As a marketing lead, most people don't know that my bachelor degree was sports science. I chose not only because I love sports, but also sports has many theories behind to turn an athlete into a champion in terms of psychology and physical factors. These theories also apply to the business world such as endurance, persistence, dedications, teamwork, etc. to move to the top.
Recently I started boxing on top of HIIT to get my six-pack back (though still a long way to go for a guy who is turning 40 soon :)) The trainings and classes inspire me quite a lot -
1. You can imagine a guy with the age like me would not be easy to kick high and twist your body in very fast motion. After three-week daily practice, CONGRATULATIONS to myself, I can kick very high and kick the sand bag loudly.
2. The first few classes or the first two weeks, of course, I am very excited. But how's about a year later? Would I still enjoy the classes and push myself to go there daily and on time?
3. Some classes have only few people but some classes have more. As an instructor, he/she can't use the same format but need to tailor-make the class activities in each class.
4. There are so many boxing gym in the city. How can they stand out in the market?
5. Singapore faced lockdown for few months and all gym needed to close down. How could they survive and keep their employees?
There are still many points I wanted to list out here. For you, when you start something new, would you think about all these too?
I aimed to get my six-pack back in six months which I am almost there. This requires me a lot of time and effort including food, exercise, sleep, emotional support, etc. It is the same as aiming yourself to the top level. If you give up, no one can help you as the career (your abs) is yours. So stay strong and keep moving.
